Frequently Asked Questions
I've never lifted weights before - won't I get bulky?
Not unless you are trying to - and even then it's difficult and time consuming. But besides that, strength training is incredibly important for everyone, especially as we age, to not only maintain our current level of muscular strength, but to promote tendon and ligament mobility, protect bone health, increase metabolism, as well as improve balance, coordination, and posture. Lifting heavy weights will no doubt increase your strength and overall health, but worry not - unless you're being very diligent and purposeful with your workouts and nutrition, you won't start looking like Arnie anytime soon.
I'd love to try a group class but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up with everyone - can I still workout?
Absolutely! Our group circuit is designed in a way that you don't have to worry about maintaining the same pace as the person next to you; everyone works at their own speed throughout the session.
I'm pregnant/a new mom (maybe both!) - is this for me?
Definitely. One of our founding members was six months pregnant when she started coming to our group classes! And new mother's will feel comfortable and confident doing these workouts as well. Modifications may be required for some exercises, but this is always very easily accommodated.
I've been nursing a shoulder/knee/back injury - may I join?
Maybe. Regardless of how you feel, you should always have a conversation with your doctor before beginning any new exercise regimen and get medical clearance especially when dealing with an injury. If given proper clearance, we can modify our workouts to accommodate your limitations.
